The images testify the very serious commitment of numerous ABA ROMA students at the @InclusiveArts2024 workshop, one can see individual and group work and the exchange of information and skills between them in relation to:
– the experimentation of creative subtitles using video-editing software as explained by Veronica Bonatesta and her slides https://www.canva.com/design/DAGGsXe7l_M/HeZfVNxE8QSX9IxHanguNQ/edit
– the transformation of audio-video souls into typographical compositions using digital or paper solutions by Claudio Madella visual artist (for deaf people, rhythm is represented thanks to solutions such as the new haptic support available on iphone, a series of apps available on both ios and android for viewing music, the plugin for chrome ‘Music Visualizer for YouTube’ thanks one has the possibility of activating graphics that follow and react to the rhythm and intensity of the music being listened to: warning some of which are not the best for those suffering from epilepsy, pay attention…)
– the transformation of a website supported by multimedia elements in an accessible sense thanks to Antonio Lo Iacono and a11y version of ARCO Content Management System https://www.numeriprimi.it/accessibilita
Students and speakers supported by coordinator, speakers, sign interpreter and workshop technicians and the availability of numerous handbooks but also research of the same students on the subject of #InclusiveDesign.

The video illustrates the environment of the Campo Boario site of the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, made up of open spaces and classrooms supported by a remarkable technological-didactic equipment.
In the video-interviews, Workshop Coordinator Prof. Enrico Bisenzi affirms how the workshop is one of the many initiatives that the academy carries out on inclusivity… among the various intentions, one goal of the workshop is to involve students with special characters or disabilities, also to develop professional skills in view of the regulatory obligation (any company providing a digital product must also provide the accessible alternative). Lastly, Enrico Bisenzi concludes that #InclusiveDesign and therefore #InclusiveArts, that is students who interpret #InclusiveDesign in an artistic sense… should be taken into greater consideration because they are useful results on a social level, on a universal level… it’s not just following the rules by applying a technical handbook, but it’s really being able to give space to one’s own expressiveness and turn it into art for inclusion goals… this thing of accessibility must become an art… examples of #InclusiveDesign must enter museums as works of art.
Chiara Protani graphic design and editorial graphics lab technician, reminds us how on the first day we dealt with inclusivity within websites, thanks to Antonio Lo Iacono’s speech. Chiara Protani reiterates how to create a workshop in such a way as to involve young students in #InclusiveDesign procedures… not only now that they are still studying, but also once they come out of the academy and approach the working world… it is very important.
Morena Foglia also a graphic design and editorial graphics laboratory technician, reminds us how on the second day with Veronica Bonatesta we dealt with creative subtitles, so… how to make a film or a music video clip accessible through creative subtitling, while on the third day with Claudio Madella how to make a font, a text accessible… in this case the activity was through music… Morena Foglia: we are talking about art and art is communication, so it has to reach everyone. That’s one reason why inclusion is a topic that needs to be addressed.
